| CLINICAL WORK Stephen has worked extensively in two distinct professional areas for 32 years: mental health and corporate consulting. He has been a trainers of doctorate and masters level clinicians in 30 countries world wide. He is a keynote speaker, storyteller and author. He is the Executive Director of the Phoenix Institute or Ericksonian Therapy. He is Editor of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and the President of the Phoenix Society of Clinical Hypnosis. In 1994 The Milton H. Erickson Foundation awarded him the "Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Psychotherapy." His publications include seventeen authored or edited books (three were widely acclaimed award winners and often used as university texts). His works have been translated in 6 languages. His publications detailed pioneering work in understanding therapeutic metaphors, story telling, and the approaches used by Milton H. Erickson, MD. He has published dozens of additional professional chapters for other landmark books dealing with his theory of strategic interventions and change. He serves on advisory panels for professional journals and has contributed to popular magazines including Self, American Health, Bottom Line Personal, and Psychotherapy Networker. He continues to practice psychotherapy in Phoenix, Arizona and specializes in trauma recovery, pain management, anxiety, depression, and couples therapy. He teaches as faculty associate at Arizona State University, Dept. of Sociology and Behavioral Science. |

CORPORATE WORK Stephen also creates knowledge engineering applications including focus groups and interface designs for both paper documents and electronic interfaces. He developed Internet and Intranet sites for a wide range of customers including the heath care, medical professional training, publishing, consulting, and insurance industries. He was a part of the Microsoft Corporation Site Builder Network Level 3 for several year. In corporate work, his deliverables stress conformity to behavioral science principles for information exchange, decision making, and behavioral effectiveness. For the last 14 years he has been a corporate partner with Xerox providing consulting solutions for customers including the Internal Revenue Service, New York State Tax and Finance, State Farm Insurance, American Express, Provident, U.S.A.A., Empire BC/BS, American Airlines, OHP, and other Fortune 1000 companies in the financial, insurance, consulting, and telecommunication industries. |

| Having lived and worked on three continents since she left Brazil in
1966 to study abroad, Marilia Baker, a multi-lingual, multi-cultural
professional brings to the Phoenix Institute of Ericksonian Therapy a broad
range of experience, providing diversity-oriented, culturally aware,
solution-focused therapeutic approaches to individuals, couples, groups and
communities. Her American degree was granted by the Boston College Graduate
School of Social Work, Chestnut Hill, MA, in 1980. She is Certified Marriage
and Family Therapist by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. Ms. Baker has been associated with the Milton H. Erickson Foundation in many capacities since 1989, when she first trained with Jeff Zeig and Brent Geary, in Ericksonian Clinical Hypnosis and Brief Psychotherapy. Subsequently, to the present, she has continued specialized training under the aegis of the Foundation. Her contributions to the dissemination of Ericksonian approaches internationally have been many, particularly as a Founding Director and Board Member of the Sao Paulo Milton H. Erickson Institute, the first in Brazil (1995). Currently she is a co-director and board member of the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Florianopolis, Brazil. She has been International Presenter and Trainer in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico and Spain and has been a Guest Editor of the Erickson Foundation Newsletter, a professional news journal of the Organization, since the year 2000, responsible for the column "Introducing the Institutes". In addition, she holds a position as International Consultant and Advisor to the Centro Ericksoniano de Mexico. |

| Marilia's first book, Homenaje a Elizabeth Moore Erickson. Mujer extraordinaria, professional, esposa, madre, companera, was first published in Mexico in 2003. She just completed a version in Portuguese, her native language, which will be launched in May in Brazil, at the Fifth Latin American Meeting of Ericksonian Therapists. The original English version, will be presented at the Ninth International Congress of Ericksonian Approaches to Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, in Phoenix. Her tribute to Milton Hyland Erickson's wife and colleague extraordinaire was rooted initially in the firm belief, and later on the empirical knowledge of Elizabeth Erickson's contributions to her acclaimed husband's | work.||

| William Matthews is a long-time member of our cast. His clinical and
corporate training and supervision is occasionally documented in his publications and
those he co-authors with the Lanktons. More detailed information about his affiliations,

website. William J. Matthews received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut in 1979. His graduate training was based on the empirically derived Social Learning Theory of behavior, he developed skills both as a clinician interested in social systems and as an empirically oriented researcher. In 1980, Dr. Matthews joined the faculty in the School and Counseling Psychology Program, in the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He is now director of that program. He serves as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. |

| Professor Matthews developed a specialty clinical and research focus on working with
family systems and larger, corporate systems. In working with problematic systems,
Professor Matthews investigated, developed, and applied his knowledge of communication,
attribution theory, and narrative to the problems presented by the system.
Dr. Matthews is a frequent consultant to the University of Lisbon in Portugal on systemic approaches to mental health. In addition to his consultation companies in this country, he is the Editor of "Current Thinking and Research in Brief Therapy: Solutions, Strategies, and Narratives" in which he brings the focus of empirically based methodology to the process of brief therapy. His application of communication theory, clinical problem solving skills within a systemic context provides an important link to the information technologies of the 21st century. |

| Louie Kramer is a senior leading member of the Document Engineering and Design Services at Xerox', Global Services Group (XGS). He formerly was head of document engineering for the IS department of Oschner Health Plan in New Orleans, LA for two years. Prior to that he was the Manager of the Communications Effectiveness Practice and the Document Engineering Practice in Xerox', XPS. He has been with Xerox since 1988 and received nomination for the worldwide President's Award for outstanding contribution to the corporation from Xerox in 1993. Prior to joining Xerox he was Assistant Vice President at Provident Life and Accident Insurance where he managed the New Technology Department's advanced technology group. He spent twenty years automating departmental and corporate wide document production processes in various corporate settings. | ||

approach to engineering business media. As a result he gained expertise in the entire
range of high speed printing and publishing hardware and software, process re-engineering,
